How it works
How we help with a rebate
The program pays, not us. Our part is to find what is open, say what it asks for, and get our side of the paperwork right.
- 01
We check what is open
Tell us your ZIP code and your electric utility. We look at the programs that cover your address and your household.
- 02
We say what each one asks for
Some need approval before the install. Some need an installer on their list. Some ask for proof of income.
- 03
We fill in our part with you
You sit down with an advisor and go through the forms together, so you know what you are signing.
- 04
The program pays you
Payment comes from the program, on its timing. We don’t count a rebate as paid until it is.
Programs set their own rules, amounts and end dates, and funds can run out. We can’t promise a rebate.
Where rebates come from
Three kinds of program
Utility programs
Your electric utility may run a rebate for heat-pump water heaters. The rules and amounts are the utility’s.
State programs
The state may run its own incentive, often through a list of installers. Ask us if we are on it.
Local and income-qualified programs
A county, city or nonprofit may help households under an income limit. These often ask for more paperwork and move more slowly.
The programs open to you are named on your written plan.
Before the visit
What programs often ask for
You don’t need all of this to call. It saves a second visit if you have it by the day.
A recent electric bill
It shows your utility and your account holder’s name.
Proof of income, if a program asks
Which kind depends on the program. Your advisor says which.
A photo of the heater and its label
Text it to us. It tells us the age and the type.
Who owns the house
A renter needs the owner’s say-so, and some programs need the owner’s signature.
Rebate questions
Do I have to pick a program before I call?
No. Tell us your ZIP code and who your electric utility is, and we check what is open. Some programs need approval before the install, which is why we ask you to call before a failing heater leaves you no time.
Can a program pay for it if my income is low?
Some programs are for households under an income limit. Your energy advisor can tell you which ones are open for your address, what proof they ask for, and whether the installer has to be on a list.
When do I pay?
The plan says what is due before work starts and what is due when the job passes inspection. Rebates come from the program, on the program’s timing, and we never count one as paid until it is.
Ask an advisor what is open for you
Tell us your ZIP code and your utility. We will tell you what we find, including when nothing is open.
