Pricing

How pricing works

We don’t post prices, because two houses never cost the same. Here is what decides yours, and when you get the number.

  • What decides the price

Five things move the price of a gas-to-heat-pump swap, and you can see most of them before anyone drives over.

    • The electrical circuit and the panel

    • Where the heater will sit, and its air and drain

    • The gas cap and the flue

    • The heater itself, sized to your household

    • The permit and inspection

  • What the estimate includes, and what it doesn’t

The plan covers the work we describe in it. It leaves out repairs we could not see.

    • Included: the heater, the install, the cap, the drain and hauling away the old tank

    • Included: the permit fee and the inspection visit, on their own lines

    • Not included: drywall, paint, or work behind a wall we find rotted

    • Not included: a panel upgrade, unless it is on the plan

  • What happens at the visit

We look first and say what we found before anything is priced. The visit has a fee. If you go ahead with the work at that visit, it comes off the price.

  • When you get the number

You get the price in writing before any work starts. It is a set price for the work on the plan, and it changes only if you agree to a change first.

  • How and when you pay

The plan says what is due before work starts and what is due when the job passes inspection. Rebates are paid by the program, on its timing, and are not counted against what you owe us.

  • If the job changes

If we open a wall and find something the plan did not cover, we stop, show you, and give you the price in writing before we go on.

The visit fee, payment schedule and terms on your plan are the ones that count.

The visit

A visit is for the plan, not a pitch

  • You get a written plan

The plan lists each part of the job and the price of each, so you can compare it with another quote.

  • You get the rebate check

We tell you what is open to you, and what each program asks for, before you decide.

  • You can say no

If you go ahead, the visit fee comes off the price. If you don’t, the plan is yours to keep.

Hear the visit terms first

Ask what the visit fee is and how it comes off. It is the first thing we say.
